Mango Season 2026 - tropicalfruitforum.com
Hello fellow mango lovers and growers. Blooms have been popping here, at least on Sugar Loaf and Edward, maybe a few Glenns and Ceci Love. It rained 1.5 inches yesterday, and woke up to about 60F. Perfect time to treat; sprayed sulfur and kelp extract late this morning on the emerging blooms and leaves, will do every 7 - 10 days for a while.

"New" Mango Variety buzzer
"New" Mango Variety buzzerI'm on the fence about adding one to my yard. I'm also out of space. I've been asking myself if I really crave eating mango right now or if I'm happy with the other more seasonal produce I've grown to enjoy. Nobody we know has tasted the fruit yet (the owner picks the fruit green), not even Xain. What if it turns out to be a mediocre (or worse) tasting mango with ...

How do I avoid "mango mouth?" - tropicalfruitforum.com
It's hard to avoid mango everywhere because it's so popular. Only the fresh fruit does it to me, and it's clearly the urushiol. But fresh mango, right out of the peel, is by far the best and one of the greatest fruits ever, and mango used as ingredients or in fruit salad or whatever is all second-rate, deteriorated from being unfrozen, so on.

Bolt Mango - tropicalfruitforum.com
Bolt is a delicious mango, one of my favorites, reminds me of Carrie and sweet tart where resin flavor penetrates all through flesh, when I first had it years ago I asked Richard Campbell why they call it bolt he said “because when the mango hits your taste buds it’s like a lightning bolt” tend to agree lol.

Best tasting and most reliable Mangos for Southern California
Best tasting and most reliable Mangos for Southern CaliforniaI want to start this thread to begin tracking the performance of the top tier Mangos varieties when grown in SoCal. Any information from growers in other Mango growing regions would be greatly appreciated. Varieties that are highly disease resistant in one mango growing region may be a good indicator that they could potentially be a ...

Growing Mango trees in Southern California
Growing Mango trees in Southern CaliforniaI used Haden as rootstock and it grew fine for me but every location can give different results because your microclimate and soil can be different. Haden, Tommy Atkins, and especially Kent did well for me as rootstocks. I would recommend planting as many different types of mango seeds as you can get your hand on and you’ll eventually find one that ...

Growing Mango trees in Southern California
Growing Mango trees in Southern CaliforniaYes, all Mangos should be exploding with growth at this time of year regardless of rootstock. If you haven’t fertilized much yet, now is a good time to fertilize and push growth. No need to worry about excess Nitrogen inhibiting flower initiation in Winter. Now is a great time for minors and trace minerals as well, if it’s not already in your ...

Mango -- Orange Sherbet vs. Orange Essence
Mango -- Orange Sherbet vs. Orange EssenceThe two are not related. Orange Sherbet is related to Lemon Zest and Lemon Meringue (parent). Orange Essence is Kent x Gary. It's probably anybody's guess how well they would do in your area. They both sound like great varieties. You should plant both, and let us know how they work out. « Last Edit: April 22, 2020, 09:11:51 AM by johnb51 » Logged John
