Decided to pull the trans and axles out of the SCX10 in question, install fresh bearings, and put them back with the AX10 Scorpion chassis they came with, then the II axle swap kit for a III, servo on axle kit (BPC’s mount/axle try’s kit is looking good for that), better steering servo that the 645mg that what has somehow survived the last ...

Looking to get back into the game. Been out for a few years. Im not new to the RC world as I have had quite a few different ones over the years. Mostly all of mine have been Axial based platforms. In looking now it seems like the Vanquish rigs have a lot more models now than they did back then...
Yes the listing for spur/pinions in the manual is a tooth count and the 48 pitch is standard on the SCX10 and many other RC vehicles. Some buy 32 pitch (coarser teeth) spur and pinion for extra strength, but I don't think it's necessary for a trail rig. 48P is a lot quieter as well.
The SCX10III has a cool transmission with it's scale forward motor position, 2 speed gear set, and dig function out of the box. The downsides are the new transmission is huge, heavy, and introduces a lot of slop from those nifty multiple speeds and dig. The old 3 gear transmission isn't scale...
The longer answer is the SCX10 and SCXII share skidplate and chassis geometry but the SCXII uses shorter front links and longer rear links to arrive at the same wheelbase. Additionally, the link mounts on the AR44s put the links 1.5-2mm closer to the axle housing than the old axles so the links need to be a bit longer to make up that difference.
So while looking for some info for a upcoming build I thought to myself "wouldn't it be nice to have all the axle width info for all the vehicles associated with RC crawling, scalers, Ultra4, bouncers, ETC??" I know this was tried before back in like 2008 but I feel that with all the newer...
Here in the german "rockcrawler.de" forum we now have the first building-thread for the SCX10 III. I will get my Kit in a few hours - its still in the DHL delivery truck. So we all here appreciate the tips of Rich Trujillo and would like to thank you for your excellent support.
Re: Scx10-iii cj-7 Very cool release, funny enough I was just saying how I have sold every single 10.3 I’ve owned (6) and won’t get another… but this rig is cool for sure. Also funny, literally this morning I was thinking axial hasn’t released anything exciting (to me at least) in quite a while, open YouTube and there’s the CJ!
