The DOJ has said Grace was removed as the U.S. attorney for the District of New Jersey hours after she was chosen over Habba.

The DOJ fired Desiree Leigh Grace as the newly appointed U.S. attorney for New Jersey, hours after judges in the state chose her over President Trump's pick, Alina Habba.

Habba, whom Trump appointed to serve as the interim U.S. attorney in New Jersey, needed either Senate confirmation or a vote by the state’s federal judges in order to remain in her role past her initial 120-day term, which expired this week.
