April may be known for its rain showers -- but when the clouds part, nighttime skygazers can enjoy meteor showers and other dazzling displays all month long, according to astronomers. Viewers in the Northern Hemisphere will be treated to simultaneous meteor showers this month.

The moon dims, the meteors fly, and the planets dance—these are the most exciting celestial events happening this month.

After sunset on April 2, look for the crescent moon and Jupiter in the western sky. The duo will appear within a palm’s width of each other, according to stargazing app SkySafari. You can watch them travel in tandem through a pair of binoculars until around midnight local time, when they dip below the western horizon.
