The Home Run Derby field is having a last-minute shakeup. On Friday, Major League Baseball announced that Matt Olson will replace his Braves teammate Ronald Acuña Jr. at the 2025 T-Mobile Home Run Derby,
Ronald Acuña Jr., as the face of the Atlanta Braves, deserved the chance to launch home runs into the Cobb County night on Monday. Two major knee injuries have ripped the Braves' best player off the field, but he's returned with a fervor in 2025, rampaging his way to the Home Run Derby.
On Friday evening, the Braves announced Ronald Acuña Jr. won't be participating in the Home Run Derby after all, but will still start in Tuesday's All-Star Game.
It's a new era for MLB's Home Run Derby in 2025. As baseball's most iconic exhibition prepares to take over Truist Park in Atlanta next week, the field will not feature any players who participated last year.
MLB revealed the prize for winning the Home Run Derby, and it's not a trophy. Instead, the winner will receive a flashy gold chain featuring the phrase "Keep Swinging."
