Kalen DeBoer and the Alabama Crimson Tide narrowly defeated Auburn 27-20 on the road Saturday, escaping the Iron Bowl with a victory.

In the first half, Alabama freshman cornerback Cam Calhoun was ejected for his helmet-to-helmet hit on Auburn quarterback Ashton Daniels in the red zone. Calhoun will miss the remainder of the game after his disqualification. However, in the third quarter, Auburn safety Jahquez Robinson was also ejected for targeting.

Saturday's Iron Bowl matchup between Alabama and Auburn could reportedly loom large in Auburn's head coaching search.

Considering Auburn's season and recent history in the Iron Bowl, it's hardly a surprise to see the College GameDay crew and guest picker Aidan Hutchinson uninamous in picking the Crimson Tide to avoid an upset. Desmond Howard and former Alabama head coach Nick Saban each were quick to pick the Crimson Tide.

Alabama and Auburn both enter the 2025 Iron Bowl with plenty on the line. The Crimson Tide (9-2, 6-1 SEC) needs a win to reach the SEC championship game and also to likely clinch a spot in the College Football Playoff. The Tigers (5-6, 1-6) are playing for bowl-eligibility, and also to ruin their arch-rival’s season.
