Thursday was a wild day for Houston weather, punctuated by multiple reports of tornadoes during the development of strong storms. During the tornado watch issued by the National Weather Service, a brief tornado even appeared to touch down in Wharton County near El Campo.

Seventeen million people across the South are under the threat of damaging winds, strong tornadoes and hail Saturday as the region braces for more potential destructive storms.
