Melbourne Stars have won the toss and opted to field first against Sydney Thunder at the Manuka Oval in Canberra.

Sam Billings was the hero for Sydney Thunder belting 72 off 39 balls but the Melbourne Stars could’ve had him back in the sheds for just 16 off 17 deliveries, if only they asked the umpire the question.

The only negative for the men in lime green was a suspected repeat of a bicep tear for legspinner Jason Sangha, hurt after high-fiving teammates after taking Maxwell’s wicket. The result moves the Thunder back into the top four with a 2-1 record, while the Stars are 0-5 despite having one of the best rosters in the BBL.

Melbourne Stars are set to face off against Sydney Thunder in game 14 of the Big Bash League (BBL) season 2024-25. The Stars have endured a disastrous start to their campaign, losing all four of their matches and sitting at the bottom of the BBL points table.
