Sunday, several top Florida democrats are slated to return to the state’s newest immigration detention center for a tour, after being turned away a week ago when they showed up unannounced.

Archbishop Wenski criticizes the "Alligator Alcatraz" detention center and decries the Trump administration's deportation policy.

The mayor's request comes as state and federal lawmakers prepare to tour the remote facility this weekend, amid growing scrutiny over its conditions.

"We've had several other states that are actually using Alligator Alcatraz as a model for how they can partner with us as well," Noem told reporters.

Local 10 News heard from Florida lawmakers Friday who are suing the state for access to the “Alligator Alcatraz” migrant detention facility, just hours before they join fellow Democrats and Republicans on a tour of the controversial center.
