Mike Woodson coached IU the past four seasons, going 82-53 with NCAA Tournament appearances his first two seasons. It was announced in February he would step down at season's end.

Woodson, who played college ball under Bobby Knight at Indiana, was drafted 12th overall by the Knicks in the 1980 draft. He spent 11 years in the NBA, including five seasons with the Kings, before becoming an assistant head coach with the Bucks in 1996.

The Sacramento Kings struck a deal to bring in the longtime NBA coach and former Indiana Hoosiers coach as an assistant under Doug Christie on Wednesday afternoon, according to ESPN’s Shams Charania. Woodson marks the first hire for Christie, who was promoted as the team’s full-time head coach last month.
