Before you bid "fir-well" to your Christmas tree, consider how you can recycle your holiday decoration instead of throwing it in a landfill.

Saint Louis County Parks and Recreation, and the Missouri Department of Conservation are offering a program to recycle unwanted, natural-cut Christmas trees through most of January.

Starting Dec. 26, the Texas Disposal Systems will accept live Christmas trees and live decorations to be repurposed into compost and mulch.

For those that celebrate the Christmas holiday in classic tradition, it's time to take down the tree and lights — unless you follow the Denver tradition of leaving them up for the upcoming National Western Stock Show.
