Pueblo's marquee outdoor basketball courts at 'The Slab' are now open. A formal reopening ceremony will be held on July 31.

What to know about the history of 'The Slab' The area currently occupied by the Slab, 2709 N. Elizabeth St., began serving as the site of a Veteran's Memorial in 1937.

Pueblo Parks and Recreation, in collaboration with other city agencies, is preparing for the grand re-opening of The Slab.

The renovation includes a new post-tension concrete slab, upgraded posts, backboards, hoops, benches, and LED lighting, with an estimated total cost of $500,000. The project, started in June of 2024.
