The country is braced for further travel chaos and risk of injury for millions across the UK, with at least five weather warnings for snow and ice issued by the Met Office today alone

The Met Office has forecast more snow to hit parts of southern England by noon today, with a yellow weather warning for snow in effect until 11.59pm. This alert spans most of Southwest England, Southeast England, and some areas of Greater London.

The Met Office has issued yellow weather warnings of snow and ice for several regions as snow continues to cause carnage across the country.

The Met Office operates 24 hours a day, 365 days a year, so warnings can be issued at any time, day or night. These can be for any extreme conditions, be they rain, thunderstorms, wind, snow, lightning, ice, extreme heat and fog.

The Met Office urges people to leave extra time to make required trips and plan routes carefully.

The Met Office has issued new weather warnings for parts of the UK, with yellow warnings for ice and snow in place until Friday morning. The two new warnings cover parts of Northern Ireland and Wales as well as areas in north-west England and the east of England - they come after an existing warning for snow and ice in parts of northern Scotland.

And there is more to come as yet another yellow warning for Ice has been forecast for Northern Ireland – starting at 4pm and lasting until 10am tomorrow.

The Met Office has issued its latest weather warning for Cheshire as the cold snap continues. A yellow warning for ice comes into force from 4pm today (January 9). The warning covers the vast majority of the county and will last until 10am tomorrow (January 10).
