KSL meteorologist Matt Johnson explained the Christmas storm was too warm for valley snow in some parts of the state, which models indicated could happen. More importantly, it pushed out the high-pressure ridge over the state, opening the door for more precipitation this week.

Many Utahns could wake up to a white Christmas this year — or at least cleaner air. A small storm is forecast to join Santa on his route, passing through the state between late Christmas Eve and early Christmas Day.

Storm #1 is moving through northern Utah this morning. It has been producing valley rain and mountain snow showers throughout the morning. It's a fast-moving storm, so it will exit the state by afternoon. Then our weather will be quiet for the rest of today and for most of Christmas Eve.
