A 22-year-old student gave birth in a latrine at a private clinic in eastern Uganda, and the newborn was rescued alive hours later, police said Sunday.

Adriana Smith, who has been brain dead since February, but kept alive because she was 9 weeks pregnant, was set to be taken off life support after doctors delivered her baby via C-section.
