Jim Harbaugh's Michigan Wolverines completed a nine-year title pursuit, filled with setbacks and plenty of losses to Ohio State, by defeating future conference mate Washington in the College Football Playoff championship.

Coming out of high school, Overton was considered as the nation's No. 14 overall player in the 2022 class, per the 247Sports Composite rankings, as well as the No. 4 rated defensive lineman nationally. Rated as a five-star recruit, Overton was also considered the No. 3 player in the state of Georgia where he attended Milton High School.
