NORTHFIELD, Minn. — "The Oregon Trail," one of the most successful computer games of all time and a staple for children of the '80s and '90s, is currently being developed into a movie project.
The original computer game is set in 1848, giving players the opportunity to channel the thousands who traveled on a wagon road from Independence, Mo., to Oregon’s Willamette Valley.
It's basically a $25 Game Boy that only plays one game. As anyone who played "The Oregon Trail" in its original incarnation knows, it's a title best suited to short, 20- to 30-minute sessions.
The game’s site is accessible through TravelOregon.com through Dec. 16. Travel Oregon is working with several media partners selected for their relevance to the game.
