Combine those two elements and you have Geode Cracking, a NEW activity for youth during the Missouri River Outdoor Expo.

Throughout the event, visitors can watch live demonstrations, including lapidary — the process of turning slabs of rock into polished stones — as well as geode cracking and gemstone cutting.

There will also be demonstrations on geode cracking and making arrowheads with flint knappers. Admission to the show is only $1.00 for those 18 and older. Ages 17 and under are free.

Magic Valley Gem Club members will demonstrate various skills associated with the lapidary hobby — faceting, cabochon-making, sphere-making, geode cracking and others.

What's there to do for kids The event will include children's activities like a dinosaur exhibit and a geode cracking workshop.
