Nearly 2.5 million people are without power after Hurricane Milton swept through Florida on Wednesday and Thursday. The storm made landfall in the state on Wednesday night. On Thursday morning, the storm left Florida through its east coast and headed toward the Sargasso Sea in the Atlantic Ocean.

Gov. Ron DeSantis said earlier this week that more power outages were expected than the state experienced with Hurricane Helene.

Hurricane Milton spared Florida the catastrophic devastation that many feared but left at least 11 people dead and around three million customers without power after it blazed a tornado-filled path across the state.
