The contest against Jacksonville State is officially delayed due to inclement weather in the area, the school announced. UCF is required to undergo a minimum 30-minute waiting period, and there can be no lightning strikes within 8 miles of the stadium.

Thursday's contest also featured the first career game for Charles Kelly as a head coach. He launched his collegiate coaching career as a graduate assistant at Auburn in 1993. Kelly played defensive back for the Tigers from 1986-89.

Both UCF and Jacksonville State went through major transformations in the offseason that started with the hiring of new coaches and continued with the departure of significant parts of both rosters and the welcoming of a significant number of transfers.
