The new Google TV update turns it from an entertainment system into a command center for your entire smart home.

Google TV Streamer’s home panel is now widely available on older Chromecast and Google TV devices. The home panel gives you access to smart home controls from your TV’s quick settings panels. It lets you control lights, thermostats, cameras, locks, plugs, other TVs, and speakers and even supports notifications from Nest doorbells.

Google TV has widely rolled out support for Home Panel to more TV sets and streaming devices from TCL, Hisense, and more.

This Home Panel allows Google TV users to control their compatible smart devices directly from the remote. The panel was recently made available for users of Google TV with Chromecast as part of a public preview.
