A Texas rig consists of a bullet weight, a worm hook, and a soft-plastic lure. This rig is meant to be fished primarily around cover in less than 10 feet of water.

2. Weighted Texas-Rig for Deeper Cover Using the same size hook and rigging method as above, a light bullet-shaped worm weight is added to efficiently reach deeper cover.

I do the same with other popular worm rigs such as a Texas or shaky-head rig. With a Texas rig, the hook is turned inward and the point inserted into the body of the plastic worm.
