Three years after COVID-19 dashed Ruby Trew's Tokyo Olympics dream, the teen skateboarder from Sydney's Northern Beaches is determined to make up for lost time at the Paris Games.

Park skateboarding made its Olympic debut Wednesday as the women dropped into the course at Ariake Park in Tokyo. Sakura Yosozumi of Japan became the first gold medalist in park skateboarding history.

Skateboarding was among the new sports included by Japanese Olympic officials for the Tokyo Games in 2021, and it will return at this year’s Paris Olympics.
