Alabama Gov. Kay Ivey has declared a state of emergency for 39 counties ahead of severe winter weather and snow in central and coastal Alabama.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. — Governor Kay Ivey has declared a state of emergency for 39 Alabama counties as another round of winter weather is expected to impact the southern part of the state this week. The emergency declaration was made in response to forecasts of cold temperatures.

MONTGOMERY, Ala. (WTVY) - Governor Kay Ivey has issued a State of Emergency for 39 counties ahead of the upcoming winter weather. Gov. Ivey made the announcement Monday afternoon in preparation for the weather expected Tuesday.

On Thursday, Ivey sent out the proclamation, directing the Alabama National Guard to be ready to be called to duty in the event of the weather event, where some fear the frigid weather, which is predicted to drop into the 20s, could cause snowing and some ice formation along the roads.
