FDA Issues Recall on Popular Raw Dog Food Over Salmonella Risk
This recall comes amid growing concerns about the safety of raw pet food, as Salmonella contamination poses serious health risks not only to animals but also to humans who handle contaminated food or come into contact with infected pets.
On Sept. 19, the FDA began a recall for Neutrogena makeup remover wipes after an internal investigation “discovered that the product test positive for pluralibacter gergoviae.” The recall has since been updated to give it a “Class II” status, which is the second highest level the organization gives out.
Raw Bistro Pet Fare and Foodynamics are recalling multiple pet food products over a risk of salmonella contamination, the FDA announced.
Thousands of cans of Coca-Cola, Coca-Cola Zero Sugar and Sprite sold by Coca-Cola Southwest Beverages in Texas were taken out of stores earlier in October. The recall was prompted by concerns about metal in the drinks, posing the risk of internal injuries if consumed.
The recall is for select Coca-Cola Zero Sugar, Coca-Cola and Sprite cans which were classified as a Class II recall, meaning the beverages could cause “temporary or medically reversible adverse health consequences” but that the probability of experiencing serious health issues is “remote.”
Pet food manufacturers Foodynamics and Raw Bistro are recalling several dog and cat food products because they may be contaminated with salmonella, according to the U.S. Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The recalled Black Sheep Egg Company products, labeled “Free Range Large Grade A Brown Eggs,” have “best by” dates between Aug. 22 and Oct. 31.
