More than 50 Texas Democratic legislators left the state to block a GOP effort to redraw congressional lines. Abbott said they won't be able to wait out the redistricting push.

Gov. Greg Abbott (R) threatened to push for even more GOP-leaning congressional seats in Texas if Democrats continue to block a mid-decade redistricting effort sought by President Donald Trump to give his party an edge in the 2026 midterm election.

Gov. Greg Abbott said he's ordered the Texas DPS to "locate, arrest and return to the House chamber any member who has abandoned their duty to Texans."
