Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will fly to Poland next week for events marking 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration camp.

The Prime Minister, Justin Trudeau, today announced that he will travel to Poland, from January 26 to 28, 2025, to mark 80 years since the liberation of the Auschwitz-Birkenau concentration and extermination camp.

British Prime Minister Keir Starmer has visited the site of Nazi extermination camp of Auschwitz. After the visit Friday he voiced his “sheer horror” at what he saw and vowed that he would fight the growing antisemitism which is causing fears to rise among Jews even in Britain.

The events at the Auschwitz concentration camp were a reminder of the dangers of hatred, bigotry, racism and prejudice, the ministers said.

King Charles will travel to Auschwitz later this month to attend an event marking the 80th anniversary of the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp. The commemoration in Poland will take place on 27 January, with the King among the international visitors expected for memorial events.

Senate President Sue Lines, who has previously accused Israel of the “crime of apartheid”, will represent Australia at an event to marking 80 years since the liberation of the Nazi concentration camp Auschwitz.
