Gov. JB Pritzker announced Tuesday that Christian Mitchell will join his re-election ticket as the Democratic candidate for lieutenant governor of Illinois.

Lieutenant Gov. Juliana Stratton is running for the U.S. Senate next year. As a result, Pritzker will need to select a new running mate. He did not specify who it will be but emphasized the importance of choosing someone capable of stepping in as governor if needed.
