President Trump is asking the Supreme Court for a definitive ruling on his reinterpretation of more than a century of legal precedent around birthright citizenship.

Will Crain, an associate justice on the Louisiana Supreme Court, was nominated Monday by President Donald Trump to be a federal judge in New Orleans. If confirmed by the Senate, Crain would fill one of three vacancies on the federal bench in the Eastern District of Louisiana.
