Two years later, Volkswagen’s new Scout has revealed two vehicles: the Traveler SUV and Terra pickup truck, which are advertised as affordable electric off-road vehicles built in the USA. One of the big selling points: more chunky mechanical buttons and fewer software controls. Oh, and an expected starting price under $60,000 before incentives.

American, all-electric SUV and pickup arrive in 2027 with bidirectional charging, rugged capabilities and Harvester configurations that can run partially on gas.

The new Scout Motors brand will also offer hybrids as it competes with Ford, Rivian and Tesla for a share of the truck market.

Volkswagen has just unveiled a pair of electric concepts inspired by the long-defunct International Harvester Scout off-roader. And if everything goes to plan the battery-powered Traveler SUV and Terra truck will go into production later this decade.
