The man who struck and killed Grizzly 399 while commuting home from Jackson on Tuesday night was driving at around the speed limit of 55 mph, law enforcement officials said

Law enforcement officers in western Wyoming say the driver who struck and killed a famous grizzly bear south of Grand Teton National Park was not speeding and the bear's death was an accident.

Grizzly 399′s life was thoroughly documented, leading to her becoming somewhat of a celebrity. Many were saddened by the news of her death.
