The Houston Texans have cut former Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver Diontae Johnson. The Texans claimed Johnson off waivers after the Baltimore Ravens released him in Week 16. The Ravens cut Johnson after he refused to go into the team’s game against the Philadelphia Eagles. He was upset by his role and lack of snaps.

The Houston Texans picked up receiver Diontae Johnson after Tank Dell’s season-ending injury. Today, they let him go. The Texans announced on Tuesday that the team waived Johnson. At this point, it’s not clear why he was released.

When Patrick Mahomes shook hands with C.J. Stroud at midfield at the conclusion of their Dec. 21 game, cameras caught Mahomes telling Stroud that they'd see them in the playoffs. Those words have become customary for players and coaches acknowledging respect for one another.

The Texans will also be without another pass catcher after releasing Diontae Johnson earlier in the day. Houston is looking to advance to the AFC championship game for the first time in franchise history. They have previously made the divisional round on five separate occasions but have never made it past that point in the NFL playoffs.
