MOSCOW (Reuters) -Russia remains ready to act as a mediator in the conflict between Israel and Iran, and Moscow's previous proposal to store Iranian uranium in Russia remains on the table, the Kremlin said on Monday.

U.S. President Donald Trump on Monday night cut short his participation at the G7 summit to leave Alberta, Canada, and return to Washington, D.C., to focus on the conflict between Israel and Iran. French President Emmanual Macron announced Trump had made a cease-fire offer between the two countries.

Russian President Vladimir Putin and Turkish President Tayyip Erdogan condemned Israel's "act of force" against Iran and called for an immediate cessation of hostilities when they spoke by phone on Monday,

President Trump took questions from reporters during the G7 summit in Canada. Mr. Trump commented on reports of Iran looking to de-escalate the conflict with Israel, and talked about Russia exiting the G8.

This is the second time President Trump and Russian President Vladimir Putin have spoken on the phone this month.
