The countdown has begun for the first Nintendo Switch 2 Direct. Unfortunately for Pokemon fans, the date is bad news, as it means one of the franchise’s most important events of the year will likely not feature Nintendo’s new machine.

In other words, your existing games library, whether it consists of physical cards, digital downloads, or a combination of the two is not in jeopardy of being abandoned on the next-gen handheld. Not entirely and probably not much, anyway—the caveat is that " certain " Switch titles may not work properly or at all on the Switch 2.

Pokemon Scarlet & Violet are in desperate need of upgrades and fans think the Nintendo Switch 2 might be the answer.
