Odisha says it is “fully prepared” to face the cyclone, West Bengal also predicted to receive very heavy rainfall.

The special bulletin issued by IMD said that an upper air cyclonic circulation over the Andaman Sea is likely to intensify into a low-pressure area over the Bay of Bengal during the next 24 hours.

BHUBANESWAR: The first tropical storm of the post-monsoon season is expected to develop over the Bay of Bengal by 23 October, according to the India Meteorological Department (IMD) on Sunday. An upper air cyclonic circulation over the central Andaman Sea had moved to the northern Andaman Sea on Sunday.

The weather system is expected to move west-northwestwards direction, and intensify into a depression by October 22 morning and into a cyclonic storm by October 23 over east-central Bay of Bengal, it said.
