Federal guidelines no longer recommend flu vaccines containing a preservative, used in a small percentage of vaccines, that has been falsely linked to autism.

Flu shots that have more than one dose of vaccine contain thimerosal; other versions don’t have it. HHS said Wednesday that vaccine makers have said they have the capacity to replace the shots that do contain thimerosal so that vaccine supplies aren’t interrupted.

A CDC panel’s vote to stop recommending thimerosal-containing flu shots would have limited impact, but it illustrates how the anti-vaccine movement is achieving its goals.
