Aimed at assessing initial market adoption, the Telecom Regulatory Authority of India (Trai) is planning to recommend to the central government that satellite broadband spectrum be allotted for around five years,

The official also noted that satellite spectrum pricing "will be substantially lower" than conventional telecom licences, which are typically awarded via auction for 20 years.

TRAI is preparing recommendations to the Centre, which include limiting satellite communication permit period and deciding on satellite spectrum pricing
