DJI has announced the Air 3S, an update to its existing dual-camera Air 3 mode. The Air 3S gains a larger Type 1 sensor on its main camera along with features that promise to make the drone easier to operate at night.

The DJI Air 3S – an immediate contender for best camera drone – is available now from DJI.com and other sellers with the RC-N3 controller (offering a 20km range) and will sell for $1099 | £959 | AU$1699 with one battery, or $1399 | £1,239 | AU$2129 as a Fly More Combo with 3 batteries, a shoulder bag, battery charging hub, and a ND filter set.

The new drone features a 1-inch-CMOS primary camera and a 70mm medium tele camera, each with up to 14 stops of dynamic range that support the new Free panorama feature.

The Air 3S upgrades its main camera with a big Type 1 sensor and flies for up to 45 minutes between charges. It's been a little more than a year since DJI launched its dual camera Air 3 drone, but it's already back with a follow-up: the Air 3S.

The Air 3S is DJI’s new mid-range drone that builds upon the Air 3 in a few notable ways. These include better image quality, especially in low light, with nighttime obstacle avoidance to help ensure the drone returns home safely.
