Thousands of employees across US federal health agencies received an email Monday afternoon telling them they were out of a job as of the close of business.

The news network revealed almost 50,000 job cuts have been made in the US, with a huge percentage coming via Government focused cuts including to the DOGE initiative fronted by Elon Musk

CNN dropped a bombshell about layoffs under Donald Trump, revealing that in June, U.S. employers reported slashing 47,999 jobs. This figure represents a significant 49% decrease from May and a slight 2% reduction compared to last June.

The State Department is firing more than 1,300 people on Friday as part of a dramatic overhaul of the agency, according to an internal notice seen by CNN.

Sen. Chris Van Hollen criticized the State Department's decision to lay off 1,300 employees as it is seen as a retreat from global commitments and a victory for adversaries such as China and Russia.
