Waffle House has ended its 50-cent surcharge on eggs, a sign that egg prices are stabilizing after months of inflation and supply issues driven by avian flu.
Egg prices have increased 237% since January 2021, when the average price for a dozen was $1.47, largely because of bird flu.
Grocery prices dipped 0.4%, pulled downward in part by a big 12.7% fall in the price of eggs. It was the biggest decline in food costs at home since September 2020, the government said.
