Fueled by a strong slate of contenders that includes The White Lotus (24 nominations), The Penguin (24 nominations), The Last of Us (17 nominations), Hacks (15 nominations), and The Pitt (13 nominations), HBO Max earned a record 142 Emmy nominations across 20 titles — a massive jump from last year's total of just 91.
The Warner Bros. Discovery network scored 142 Emmy nominations, compared to 121 for Netflix. This marks the most Emmy nominations HBO has ever received in a single year, beating its previous total of 140 in 2022. Last year, it received 91 and was behind Netflix and FX.

Netflix’s 121 Emmy nominations came from 44 titles across 14 genres and includes series as divergent as Adolescence and America’s Sweethearts.
It’s not that “Squid Game” isn’t an Emmy show. In Season 1, the Korean-based series received 14 nominations and won six — including outstanding drama directing (for Hwang Dong-hyuk) and lead drama actor (Lee Jung-jae). So how could it be completely blanked in Season 2? Netflix chief content officer Bela Bajaria was wondering the same thing.
Although the “Star Wars” franchise series “Andor” received 14 nominations — including Best Drama Series, Best Writing for a Drama Series, and Best Directing for a Drama Series — creator Tony Gilroy still thinks the show was overlooked in certain categories.
“The White Lotus,” with 24 nominations, was the most-watched drama nominee so far this year, ranking as the No. 16 most-watched streaming program with 11.46 billion minutes viewed, according to Nielsen.
