The Mets fell to the Cleveland Guardians by a score of 4-1 on Wednesday afternoon, and have now lost eight of their last nine games.

Gavin Williams came within two outs of Cleveland's first no-hitter in 44 years and the Guardians completed a three-game sweep of the reeling Mets with a 4-1 win Wednesday.

The Mets came close to recording their first hit in the seventh inning, when third baseman Mark Vientos hit a line drive to right field. Unfortunately for Vientos, Guardians right-fielder C.J. Kayfus timed the ball perfectly, making a diving stop to rob him of a base hit.
