MINNEAPOLIS — A man is dead after he was shot on Thursday night on Minneapolis' north side, according to police. Officers were called at about 10:30 p.m. to a residence off James and 11th avenues in the Near North neighborhood on a report of a shooting.

According to the Minneapolis Police Department, the shooting was reported around 10:30 p.m. at the 1100 block of James Avenue North. When officers arrived, they found a man inside an apartment building who had been shot. He was declared dead by police at the scene.

A man was shot inside an apartment building near the intersection of James Avenue North and North 11th Avenue in Minneapolis Thursday evening. The man was declared deceased at the scene by police. The suspect fled the scene before police arrived, and no arrests have been made.

Minneapolis Police Chief Brian O'Hara said the shooting happened around 10:30 p.m. Thursday on the 1100 block of James Avenue on the city's north side.

Bloomington Police Department Capt. Ryan Pedigo said people at the scene have been interviewed and that there’s no public threat of danger. A male suspect was taken from the scene in handcuffs to be interviewed at the police station.
