Next University of Hawaii President Wendy Hensel vows to lead with a ‘heart open wide’
Wendy Hensel, executive vice chancellor and university provost for The City University of New York, will take over the University of Hawaii system in January — earning an annual salary of $675,000 — after UH regents unanimously selected her Thursday.

The search for the new president of the University of Hawaii has come to an end. The Board of Regents unanimously selected Wendy Hensel. Hensel is currently the Executive Vice Chancellor and University Provost for The City University of New York and has previously held positions at Georgia State University.
Regents meet privately with 2 finalists for University of Hawaii president
University of Hawaii regents met privately and separately for about six hours with the two finalists to become UH’s 16th president and ended Wednesday’s regents’ meeting with no announcement, but with plans to resume their special meeting this morning.

If she accepts, Hensel will take over the 10-campus system following the December retirement of current President David Lassner.
