The City Planning Commission released six options for new districts based on 2020 U.S. Census population estimates. A special session to discuss the options is scheduled for 2 p.m. on Jan. 16.

Oct 20, 2023 · Detroit levies a 20 mill operating tax to pay for city services, so a home worth $100,000 pays taxes on $50,000 worth of the value, a total of $1,000. Duggan proposes cutting the operating tax from 20 mills to 6 mills, a reduction of 70 percent. Duggan also plans to implement a 118 mill tax on the value of land.
