Dec 25, 2022 · The only thing keeping me from switching from Ableton to beloved Bitwig is the following: My first project in bitwig went into gain staging and loudness issues really quickly. I couldn't intuitively keep visual track of levels, the faders are too small.

Ableton is pretty great, but Bitwig has some really fresh approaches, and feels faster to implement your ideas. I'm pretty convinced that Bitwig will really pull ahead in the coming years, because they aren't bogged down by architecture choices that seem to prevent some other DAWs from doing what Bitwig does so easily.

Bitwig can import Ableton projects if you're ok with replacing all of the sounds, and there's a great controller script that lets you use a Push with Bitwig, but it's nowhere near as seamless as using all of those things with Ableton. I went from Ableton to Bitwig and then back to Ableton.

I think of Bitwig almost more like an instrument This is the real key for me. I'm gradually getting my head around Bitwig, but Reaper is where I feel most comfortable. I'd kill to have Bitwig available as a plugin with Reaper, to get the best of both worlds. I'm not unrealistic enough to think there's any chance of that ever happening though!

Nov 19, 2019 · only thing ill occasionally use from ni anymore is replika xt and supercharger gt. I have all of valhalla vst's on my fx sends for general purpose reverbs and delays. Bitwig plugins tend to be on individual instruments only because theyre lightweight and modulate easily, everything bus forward is some kind of analog or console emulation.

There are so many things that I love about Bitwig but the main difference for me is that Bitwig feels like it's been developed with a consistent design philosophy, whereas FL feels like a million different features thrown at a wall with no regard for how the pieces fit together.
