In the final hours of the Vietnam War, USS Midway’s crew rose with extraordinary courage and compassion, rescuing thousands of South Vietnamese refugees. Led by Capt. Larry Chambers and Cmdr. Vern Jumper, sailors worked around the clock — clearing decks, guiding aircraft, and risking everything to save lives. Among the rescued was 8-year-old Courtney Herrmann, fleeing with 16 members of her family. This little girl found freedom and a future aboard Midway. This is Operation Frequent Wind.💛 #Ope
