Today marks the 41st anniversary of the worst disaster in the history of the Royal Flying Doctor Service. On April 30, 1981, an RFDS flight to save an infant child was returning to Kalgoorlie from Jameson in the remote Ngaanyatjarra Lands. The plane was hit by a severe dust storm and it collided with the Chaffers mine headframe on the Golden Mile.
